Patient Services and Enrollment Specialist

1.POSITION SUMMARY:

(OVERALL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION)

RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PATIENT SUPPORT SERVICES CONDUCTED IN THE Front Office.

PROVIDE COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING IN ADMINISTRATION OF PATIENT HEALTH INSURANCE AND ACCESS.

PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT FOR PATIENT SERVICES AND ENROLLMENT REPRESENTATIVE.

RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTING PATIENTS CONNECT TO HEALTH INSURANCE ACCESS, BENEFITS, APPLICATION, ENROLLMENT, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT.

A. GREETS PATIENTS AND VISITORS IN A PROMPT, COURTEOUS, AND HELPFUL MANNER.

B. ASSIST WITH ANSWERING INCOMING CALLS AND ROUTES TO APPROPRIATE PERSONS OR DEPARTMENTS.

C. RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCURATE AND TIMELY REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULING FOR ALL APPOINTMENT TYPES.

D. COLLECTS, ENTERS AND CONFIRMS REGISTRATION DATA ACCURATELY. COLLECT CO-PAYMENTS AND OTHER TYPES OF PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY PAYMENTS.

E. ABILITY TO PERFORM STANDARD PATIENT SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES.

F. ASSESS PATIENT HEALTH INSURANCE NEED, DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY, ASSIST WITH

APPLICATIONS, ENROLLMENT, SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE, INCLUDING:

EDUCATE PATIENT ON OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR PATIENTS WITH NO INSURANCE.

HELP INDIVIDUALS UNDERSTAND AND ACCESS AFFORDABILITY OPTIONS;

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY AND MEDICAID

MARKETPLACE

DRUG ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

CHAP PROGRAM

PATIENT RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

G. OVERSEE THE MAINTENANCE OF DOCUMENTATION AND RECORDS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM, CHAP AND DAP.

H. ENSURE POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND WORKFLOWS FOR BENEFITS SERVICES ARE UP TO DATE AND BEST SERVE THE ORGANIZATION AND PATIENTS.

I. COMPLETE ALL REPORTS FOR BENEFITS PROGRAMMING, INCLUDING: HRSA QUARTERLY REPORT, UNITED WAY REPORT AND MANAGEMENT OF INTERNAL TRACKING FORMS.

J. DEMONSTRATE AND MAINTAIN EXPERTISE IN: ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT RULES AND PROCEDURES; THE RANGE OF QUALIFIED HEALTH PLAN OPTIONS AND INSURANCE AFFORDABILITY PROGRAMS; THE NEEDS OF UNDERSERVED AND VULNERABLE POPULATIONS; AND PRIVACY AND SECURITY STANDARDS.

K. MAINTAIN KNOWLEDGE BASE OF EFFECTIVE PRACTICES ON ALL RELEVANT LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL POLICIES, PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO ENSURE ACCESSIBILITY OF INFORMATION AND RESOURCES.

L. SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE REQUIRED FEDERAL AND/OR STATE CONSUMER ASSISTANCE TRAINING AND ATTEND SEMINARS OR MEETINGS AS APPROPRIATE.

M. PROVIDE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO PATIENT SERVICES AND ENROLLMENT REPRESENTATIVE.

N. CONDUCT INTERNAL AND PUBLIC EDUCATION ACTIVITIES TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT SERVICES, RESOURCES AND COVERAGE OPTIONS AVAILABLE UNDER MEDICAID, CHIP, CHAP, DAP, MARKETPLACE, MAGI, ETC.

PROVIDE INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE IN A FAIR, ACCURATE, AND IMPARTIAL MANNER THAT IS CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY APPROPRIATE TO DIVERSE COMMUNITIES AND ACCESSIBLE TO INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES; AND

PROVIDE REFERRALS TO ANY APPLICABLE OFFICE OF HEALTH INSURANCE CONSUMER ASSISTANCE OF OMBUDSMAN ESTABLISHED UNDER SECTION 2793 OR THE PHS ACT TO ADDRESS CONSUMER GRIEVANCES, COMPLAINTS OR QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR HEALTH PLAN, COVERAGE, OR DETERMINATION.

O. PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR THE DAP PROGRAM, INCLUDING:

COORDINATE NFP DAP PROGRAM (INTAKE, TRACKING, ORDERING, DISTRIBUTION AND MAINTENANCE)

UPDATE PROVIDERS AND STAFF ON AVAILABLE, NEW OR DISCONTINUED MEDICATIONS

P. PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE TO PATIENT SERVICES MANAGER.

Q. COMPLETE ALL OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED.

3.QUALIFICATIONS:

A.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING OR SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS POSITION. SPECIFIC CONCEPTS, COURSES, TRAINING PROGRAMS OR REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED; BACHELOR DEGREE PREFERRED.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY: MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE, DATABASE MANAGEMENT, APPLICATION OF EMR AND RELATED FUNCTIONAL SOFTWARE.

ABILITY TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAIN EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH STAFF, PATIENTS AND THE PUBLIC.

WORK ENVIRONMENT IS STRESSFUL AT TIMES.

REGULAR EVENING AND OCCASIONAL WEEKEND WORK HOURS.

C.PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE THAT IS NECESSARY BACKGROUND TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION:

A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR EXPERIENCE IN A MEDICAL OFFICE SETTING.
